7th Grade Music - Ms. Bennett
All seventh grade students will have music for one cycle during the school year. Students focus on elements of music through guitar performance, singing, and creating music. Students use acoustic guitars, guitar method books, and other supplemental materials. Students are welcome to bring their own acoustic guitars and picks to class.
By the end of the marking period, students will be able to:

Students are expected to participate, show respect and complete all activities and assignments, and will be given several assessments throughout the marking period. Students will have written, performance-based, and listening quizzes, in addition to final projects.
By the end of the marking period, students will be able to:
- Sing and Perform a variety of songs including patriotic music, folk songs, and spirituals while harmonizing with guitar chords
- Read and Perform melodic and harmonic accompaniments on guitar
- Create music using the web-based programs, Noteflight and Soundation4Education
- Respond to various kinds of music by listening, analyzing, and describing
- Evaluate music and music performances
- Connect music with other arts and subjects
- Understand music as it relates to history
