All Shore Intermediate Band Information
What is All Shore Intermediate Band?
All Shore Intermediate Band is a select honors concert band comprised of the most dedicated, advanced middle school band students in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The All Shore Intermediate Band is organized and run by music educators from Monmouth and Ocean County Schools who want to provide their students with a challenge and opportunity to perform music at a high level. All band directors involved volunteer their time to prepare, organize, and conduct the ensemble.
Why Audition for All Shore Band?
Going through the audition process is extremely valuable for every student. Through preparation, students will be required to learn their major and chromatic scales, and will also be required to learn a challenging solo. A large amount of musical growth occurs as students master these skills. Benefits of auditioning for All Shore Band also include the opportunities to meet and work with other band directors and students outside of Little Silver. The level of the entire band at Markham Place rises as each student goes through the process.
Audition Requirements
Students must be in good standing in their school’s band program and must prepare scales and a solo. *Requirements are posted online and all students have been distributed materials. Students must also be sure that he/she can commit to attending all rehearsals and concerts.
Preparing for the Audition
Preparing for the audition is extremely important. Students will be expected to practice at least 5 times a week on the audition material. Lessons will be held in school, and extra help sessions are available both before and after school – see Mrs. Bennett to schedule extra help. Private instruction (even 4-5 lessons) is highly recommended. A list of private teachers is attached.
Registration for the Audition
Before you are permitted to register, you must play your audition material for Mrs. Bennett by October 15th in order to receive the registration code. Registration is online at www.shoreintermediateband.com and it is from the end of September until November 10th. There is a $15 fee.
